Hello, delegates. My name is Victor and I am a junior at Pacific American. STMUN will be my 19th conference and sixth formal chairing experience. At almost every conference, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the debates I’ve partaken in, whether as moderator or as a participant. Through these experiences, I’ve learned several very valuable lessons. During debates, and especially in SC, it’s important to remember that the entire point of the assembly is to come to compromises. The point of the committee is to create satisfactory resolutions for all parties, not to create new conflicts. Accordingly, prioritize constructive & concessionary debate over antagonistic behavior. When engagement is necessary, continue to emphasize productivity. In addition, always keep in mind that the conference is only a short two days. To accomplish as much as possible, always debate with intention, keeping the core issues in mind; further, avoid frivolous squabbles over semantics in order to retain maximum efficiency. In my free time, I enjoy reading and bowling. I have high hopes & expectations, and see you in December.
